‘A combination of (hauntingly beautiful) coffee table art book, country almanac, and mythic poetry collection, and it is just unbelievably gorgeous as an object to hold and enjoy. I know I’ll be going back again and again to some of those paintings, and I loved sharing the book with my kids as well’

‘The Hare and the Moon subtly weaves poetry and art together, blurring the boundaries and creating what has been described as ‘visual poetry’. This is so much more than a book of poems and folksy factoids with illustrations. The images have a dreamy quality which lend a timeless air to this charming book. Perfect for reading, as I did, while curled up on the sofa on a dark winter afternoon, a steaming mug of tea by my side (think hygge!), this would make a fine Christmas/Yule present for anyone who loves the natural world, folklore, or art. Or indeed hares!’ Lisa Tulfer: The Three Hares Blog
‘This is a beautiful book where every turn of page reveals a magical journey through the year. The hare leads the way with her leap banishing winter and singing her joyous reverence of the moon. A book of art, wonder and the magic and mystery of nature unravelled, absolutely love it.
An unusual book to be gripped by. The paintings are stunning and have such depth you feel immersed in the years transitioning and closer to nature for it.’ Lucy McArdle

Catherine Hyde’s The Hare and the Moon: A Book of Paintings is a combination of (hauntingly beautiful) coffee table art book, country almanac, and mythic poetry collection, and it is just unbelievably gorgeous as a physical object to hold and enjoy. I know I’ll be going back again and again to some of those paintings, and I loved sharing the book with my kids as well. I was lucky enough to get an early review copy from Zephyr Books, but I already have a list of people in my head who would love it as a perfect Christmas gift, so I anticipate buying several more copies in the future!

I love this book, as it has a cosy feeling with all the enchantment of nature. The pictures are beautiful. The words poetic and referencing all the different names of the moons over the course of the year. I bought a copy for a friend last Christmas and now I have my own copy. I will treasure it. Thank you to Catherine Hyde for all her wonderful work.

A delightful book sensitively written with beautiful art, which is a gift for someone so I could only peek inside. I am going to drop hints so that I can have one of my own!
