March

March

Boxing clever under the mad March stars,

the hare springs.  Moon-struck, heart hammering

The race is on

And she sings

February

February

February is upon us

This is the place where the hare runs:

Gritty and wild, the hare shivers into rain dark February.

Bitter winds bully her as the days pursue her.

And she sings:

The Snow Moon, The Crow Moon

The Hunger Moon, The Wolf Moon

The Lenten Moon, The Grass Moon

The language of the earth

The language of the earth

Terri Windling has written a wonderful piece on her site ‘Myth and Moor’ about Robin Wall Kimmerer’s ‘language of animacy’ and my book ‘The Hare and the Moon’.

The Moon after Yule

‘New Year dawns.  The hare is away

over hill and under hill, scuttering snow.

And she sings,

The Moon after Yule, The Snow Moon

The Wolf Moon, The Hunger Moon

The Sap Moon, The Crow Moon’

Christmas hols

Christmas hols

December seems to have flown away.

I have closed my shop now for the Yuletide break.  The cake is waiting to be marizipanned and iced.  The pudding is made and I have cheated and bought some lovely pates instead of making them.

I have presents to wrap but hopefully no more to post.

What a year of work it has been:

The Hare and the Moon has sold out of its first run with new copies available in February hopefully.  I can hardly believe the reaction it has had – so much work and put together so beautifully by Zephyr.

My solo show at The Lighthouse Gallery was a wonderful success with many sales of paintings, books and prints.

I am looking forward to a break and then to get on with new work in January!
