The Ice Hare is the witch in her winter form, the shapeshifter on a journey that has no clear beginning and no visible end, moving through a landscape of snow and cold, fleet-foot, purposeful, and free.

In the old British folk tradition, the hare-witch could not be caught, could not be harmed, could cross any boundary and outrun any pursuer. The Ice Hare carries that same wild immunity — she belongs to the winter, and the winter belongs to her.

The original painting is acrylic on canvas with gold leaf, the gilded surface warm against the cold of the snow, the hare’s journey lit from within.
