This painting is the fourth in a series of seven, each one a verse of the rhyme, each one its own tree.

Four magpies in the oak — the ancient tree of strength and endurance. Four for a boy: a blessing, a promise, a piece of old magic spoken quietly into the air.

The series can be collected individually or as a set, each print is a complete image in its own right and part of a larger whole.
