IN THE STUDIO

Occasionally, even when I consider a painting finished it can need reworking.  After last year’s eye surgery,  I created several new pieces that I’ve been taking a second look at. One or two just needed a minor tweak, a sharpening, while others called for more depth and shadow. I am often cautious about these changes having sometimes realised too late that I hadn’t needed to touch them at all. The essential composition of this one has not changed, but there is more contrast overall and the background has greater depth which helps to enhance its richness and atmosphere.
